WHAT IS STACKED?

Stacked is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is student-centered, focused on education, leadership, and mentorship, while opening up opportunities for enhanced student and alumini engagement. Our mission is to equip youth nationally with the tools and networks to succeed upon graduation and empower them to advocate for issues that impact them and future generations the most. The deck has been stacked against them and they'd like to "reshuffle the cards" in favor of more opportunities for personal growth, success, and prosperity that former generations have enjoyed.

CLIMATE CHANGE

We do not have a planet B and, therefore, have a responsibility to leave a livable, sustainable home for future generations. We need climate action now to achieve net zero by 2050 globally. We must urgently embrace innovation and the technology-driven solutions we have today to transition towards a clean energy future.

EQUALITY

Stacked advocates for a wealth tax on the wealthy and raising corporate taxes. We need to grow a prosperous middle class with equal access to good healthcare, housing and education. Reckoning with racial, social, economic, environmental, and reproductive justice must be a priority. ERA now.

VOTER PROTECTION

Voting rights are sacred and establish us as a democracy. Representation matters and the ability to vote our values matters. We demand ease of voting on our campuses, expanded protections for voters, automatic voter registration and ending oppressive voter laws targeting minorities, people of color and youth.

STUDENT DEBT

Student debt relief is not negotiable and we are calling for universities to use a majority of their endowment to invest in their students rather than their stock portfolios. The underlying issues of rising tuition costs and interest rates must be addressed and free community college is necessary to tackle the inequities in our education system

K-12 EDUCATION REFORM

As students, we recognize the importance of a K-12 education and demand a fundamental change in the education system that provides a high quality education to every child and allows teachers to receive a living wage.

TITLE IX EXPANSION

We must ensure that women and LGBTQIA+ across American schools are not discriminated against, have access and receive the safety protections and rights to which they are entitled.

Stacked stands for justice in policing, ending the war on drugs and ending privatization of prisons. It has been established that our prison system is oppressive and targets minorities.

Stacked seeks better representation, accountability and transparency from our elected officials to strive for a government of the people, by the people, for the people. They are currently falling short.

DISABILITY RIGHTS

Stacked advocates for equal accessibility and for awareness of challenges faced by the disabled student community to ensure their needs are adequately addressed ensuring the ability to thrive.

ASSAULT WEAPON BAN

School shootings have become the

norm in America. Stacked demands common sense gun legislation including an assault weapons ban for the safety of students and the public at large.

MENTAL HEALTH

Stacked recognizes the lack of resources available for those struggling with mental health issues and advocates for access to comprehensive resources on campus for students.

LEGALIZATION OF
MARIJUANA

Marijuana has been used to discriminate, incarcerate, and disproportionately affect millions of Americans. Stacked supports full legalization of medical and recreational marijuana.
